Incredibly engaging and helpful from cover to cover. I rarely love reading analysis and theoretical works as much as I did this one. Zimmerman gives just the right balance of novel summary and meta-analysis. I feel as if I got a really authentic and representative look at an era of lesbian fiction I am less familiar with. Also, after reading this book, if before it you complained, as I did, that there are just not enough lesbian novels for adults, then you will not be able to complain anymore because you will be too busy searching for the 200+ titles on Amazon.

I am truly impressed with how interesting and truly needed such a text is. I feel it is essential reading for anyone who wants to teach a course on lesbian literature or anyone who simply wants to be a more informed reader (it makes reading really interesting when you can give it some context). I also now am just joans-ing for a book on Lesbian Fiction 1990-2014 or something like that.

I think Zimmerman retired in 2010 and said she has done all of the research that she wants to do. But Im sure she gets requests for that all the time. Amazing though. I would recommend this read to anyone regardless of who you are.
